The Cubs rewarded a lucky fan on Saturday, when they awarded Syler Thomas a brand new car as part of a giveaway with new corporate partner Toyota.
Thomas, who was one of thousands of fans to enter a drawing from previous home games, was selected as one of six semifinalists and then had a baseball with his name on it chosen by Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster.
Thomas, who lives in Lake Bluff, Ill., wound up the recipient of a 2010 Toyota Prius. The weekend's grand prize coincided with the installment of a Toyota sign in the left-field bleachers at Wrigley Field, commemorating the company's business relationship with the Cubs. The promotion was open to legal residents of Illinois and Indiana who live in Chicago's surrounding counties.
Thousands of fans entered drawings for the contest at Cubs games from May 25-30, and representatives of Toyota and the team chose one entry a night as a semifinalist. On Saturday, Thomas got lucky again.
