Rockies at the plate: Jason Smith had three hits and four RBIs, hitting a two-run single, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. Choo Freeman hit a two-run triple in the sixth.

Cubs at the plate: Juan Pierre tripled with one out in the third and scored on Jerry Hairston's single. Felix Pie hit his third triple of the spring in the eighth inning. Marquis Grissom added a two-run double.

Rockies on the mound: Starter Jason Jennings gave up one run on six hits over five innings and struck out two.

Cubs on the mound: Starter Glendon Rusch gave up three runs on six hits over four innings and struck out one. Brian Boehringer served up three runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Scott Eyre had a 1-2-3 ninth.

Cactus League records: Rockies 4-8; Cubs 6-5

Up next: The Cubs play host to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday at HoHoKam Park. Jerome Williams is scheduled to start against Jesse Foppert. The Rockies will play host to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday in Tucson, and Jeff Francis, back from playing for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic, is scheduled to start.
