Mariners at the plate: Jeremy Reed reached on a two-base error by left fielder Cliff Floyd and scored on Mike Morse's single in the first. Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer in the third, his second of the spring.

Cubs at the plate: The Cubs, held to two hits on Sunday, collected 24 against the Mariners on Monday. They sent 10 men to the plate in the first and scored on Alfonso Soriano's leadoff homer, an RBI single by Derrek Lee, a two-run homer by Aramis Ramirez and an RBI single by starter Wade Miller. Michael Barrett hit two homers -- a three-run shot in the second and a leadoff long ball in the fourth. Lee went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Ryan Theriot missed hitting for the cycle by a home run, and he hit a two-run triple in the third and an RBI single in the fourth.

Mariners on the mound: Starter Ryan Feierabend gave up eight runs on nine hits and one walk over two innings in his first Cactus League start. Renee Cortez pitched one inning before leaving with a strained right groin.

Cubs on the mound: Miller, who appears to be the leader for the fifth spot in the rotation, gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits over 3 1/3 innings. Neal Cotts threw two scoreless innings, giving up one run and striking out two.

Cactus League records: Mariners 6-14; Cubs 9-9-1.

Up next: The Mariners will travel to Tucson on Tuesday to play the Diamondbacks, with Jeff Weaver slated to start the 3:05 p.m. CT contest for Seattle. The Cubs will also travel to Tucson for the last time this spring, going up against the Rockies at 3:05 p.m. Left-hander Ted Lilly will make his third start and fourth Cactus League appearance. Also scheduled to pitch is closer Ryan Dempster, who was sidelined for a few days because of spasms in his shoulders.
