The Brewers' Ryan Braun and the Cardinals' Lance Berkman ranked 1-2 in the balloting for outfielders, followed by the Cardinals' Matt Holliday and the Dodgers' tandem of Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier.
A seven-time All-Star, Soriano began the day batting .269 and tied for the team lead with 14 home runs. However, he spent more than two weeks on the disabled list with a strained left quad.
Although he's not in the top five among NL shortstops, Starlin Castro may be the Cubs' All-Star representative. Castro ranks third in the Major Leagues in hits (104). If selected, he'd be the first Cubs shortstop named to the All-Star team since Shawon Dunston in 1990.

Rosters will be announced during the 2011 All-Star Game Selection Show on TBS on July 3. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2011 All-Star Game Final Vote Sponsored by Sprint.
And the voting doesn't end there. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the official voting for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet at the Midsummer Classic via the 2011 All-Star Game MVP Vote Sponsored by Sprint.
The All-Star Game, to be played in Phoenix on July 12, will be televised nationally by FOX and around the world by Major League Baseball International. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio play-by-play, while MLB.com will offer extensive online coverage.
In 2010, Marlon Byrd was the Cubs' lone All-Star representative at the game. He drew a walk and scored a run, and also recorded an assist from right field when he forced out David Ortiz at second base in the ninth.
