Against the wall, Cubs' bats battle back

Rockies at the plate: Yorvit Torrealba, who entered the game batting .462, hit an RBI double in the second. Ian Stewart hit a two-run homer in the third, his fourth. Ryan Spilborghs added an RBI double in the fourth.

Cubs at the plate: Mark DeRosa hit an RBI double and Henry Blanco hit a two-run homer in the second. Matt Murton had two doubles, and scored the tie-breaking run in the sixth on Daryle Ward's pinch-hit single.

Rockies on the mound: Franklin Morales gave up six runs, five earned, on seven hits and two walks over five innings, while striking out three. Closer Manny Corpas was charged with two runs on four hits over one inning.

Cubs on the mound: Rich Hill, who didn't walk a batter last spring, issued six in 1 1/3 innings. Kerry Wood, scratched from Wednesday's game because of back spasms, pitched one inning and gave up one run on two hits. He also struck out two.

Cactus League records: Rockies 8-10; Cubs 10-13.

Up next for the Cubs: Lefty Sean Marshall is slated to start Friday for the Cubs in their rematch against the Rockies. This will be Marshall's second start, and fourth game. This is the Cubs' last trip to Tucson. It is Carlos Zambrano's day to pitch, but he will get his work done in a Minor League game in Mesa.

Up next for the Rockies: Left-hander Mark Redman is slated to start for the Rockies on Friday in the second half of this road-home, two-game series against the Cubs.
