Hart was able to walk off the field under his own power after he was hit Wednesday night. He was taken to a Des Moines, Iowa, area hospital and diagnosed with a Grade 1 concussion. The right-hander was released from the hospital on Thursday and stopped by the Iowa Cubs clubhouse to see his teammates.
This was Hart's first start with the Iowa Cubs since he was optioned back to the Minor League team on June 12. With two outs and nobody on base, New Orleans catcher Raul Cassanova hit a line drive that struck Hart on the side of the head. Hart laid on the mound while team officials checked on him. Iowa manager Pat Listach said Hart never lost consciousness.
Hart was 2-1 with a 6.62 ERA in 12 games with the big league team. He made one start for Double-A Tennessee, because the Iowa team had problems with flooding at its ballpark. He's now 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA in seven starts for Iowa for the season.
