Theriot had singled and scored a run in the Cubs' eight-run third inning against the Houston Astros. In the fifth, during his fourth at-bat of the game, Theriot fouled a ball off his foot and went down on his knees. He was examined by Cubs athletic trainer Mark O'Neal, but finished the at-bat, grounding out to third.
The shortstop was batting .314 and ranks second in the National League with 43 multi-hit games.
