The two tours will make stops at five elementary schools, a Boys and Girls Club, Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a charity luncheon benefiting Cubs Care. The tour will also include stops at the Lincoln Library in Springfield and the Peoria Chiefs' charity fan fest in Peoria.
For the fifth year, the Cubs are working to promote literacy in area schools via the Cubs Spotlight on Reading Program in conjunction with Comcast Spotlight. The program is designed to increase literacy levels by promoting reading enthusiasm and rewarding students for their achievements in reading.
The personnel who will take part in the winter tours will be announced at a later date on cubs.com.
There will be two tour groups. One will make stops Jan. 14 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Bouchet Academy in Chicago and a charity dinner in Valparaiso (Ind.) High School. On Jan. 15, a bus load of players and personnel will include stops at Agassiz Elementary School, Jahn Elementary School and Garvy Elementary School in Chicago; as well as the Rockford Boys & Girls Club.
The other tour bus will stop Jan. 14 at Bateman Elementary School in Chicago and at a fundraising luncheon at Harry Caray's Restaurant in Chicago. The latter event is sold out.
On Jan. 15, the second bus will stop at the Lincoln Library and Museum in Springfield and take part in the Peoria Chiefs' charity fan fest. Tickets for the Peoria event may be purchased in advance at O'Brien Field or various outlets in the Peoria area.
