Cubs fans to get early look at '09 club

CHICAGO -- The Cubs will telecast nine of their Spring Training games, giving fans an early look at the 2009 team.

Comcast SportsNet will carry three telecasts while WGN-TV will handle six. In addition, WGN Radio will air 11 games.

The first spring game to be televised by WGN-TV will be March 4 at 9 p.m. CT, when the Cubs play host to the White Sox in Las Vegas. The next day's game from Las Vegas also will be televised on WGN-TV.

WGN-TV will televise the Cubs' spring games March 7 vs. Milwaukee, March 14 vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and March 20 and March 27 vs. the White Sox.

Comcast SportsNet's first telecast will be March 22, when the Cubs face the Seattle Mariners at 3 p.m. CT from the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz. The other Comcast SportsNet broadcasts will be March 30 against the Kansas City Royals and April 4 against the New York Yankees from new Yankee Stadium.

The Cubs open their Spring Training schedule on Feb. 25, when they play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers at HoHoKam Park in Mesa, Ariz. That game will be carried on WGN Radio.

WGN Radio also will carry the Feb. 26 game vs. the Brewers, March 4 vs. the Indians, March 6 vs. the Dodgers, March 14 vs. the Angels, March 16 vs. the Brewers, March 20 vs. the Padres, March 21 vs. the White Sox, March 28 vs. the Rockies, March 30 vs. the Royals and April 4 vs. the Yankees.
