Chicago's Clevenger Disciplined

Catcher Steve Clevenger of the Chicago Cubs has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his aggressive actions and fighting during the bench-clearing incident in the bottom of the sixth inning of Thursday’s game against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park.  Joe Garagiola, Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Unless appealed, Clevenger is scheduled to begin serving his suspension tonight, when the Cubs are to continue their series at Pittsburgh.  If appealed, Clevenger’s suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
