Fans invited to create logo for Wrigley's '14 milestone

Wrigley Field will turn 100 years old in 2014, and now Cubs fans can help leave their mark on the historic milestone.

To celebrate a century of Cubs baseball at Wrigley Field, fans are invited to help create a commemorative logo worthy of the one-of-a-kind venue.

Fans can submit their logo by Feb. 28, and it could be featured throughout the yearlong celebration at Wrigley Field next year. Fans can upload their logo at cubs.com/logocontest. There are several photos of Wrigley Field available on the site that Cubs fans can use as inspiration to create their logo.

"We realize this is a big milestone for the Cubs and Wrigley Field," Cubs senior marketing director Alison Miller said. "We want Cubs fans to have the opportunity to participate. We're still in the planning stages of the celebration for the '14 season, and the logo is a big part of that. So we want Cubs fans to be involved, and we're excited to see what they come up with."

After all the logos are submitted, a preliminary round of judging by an internal committee composed of the Cubs' front-office staff will begin.

The preliminary committee will judge all the eligible submissions received and select up to five finalists based upon the judging criteria, which is based on overall appearance, originality/creativity, style and quality of the design.

The finalists are expected to be announced in late March, and fan voting will open at cubs.com and continue until April 23 at 10 a.m. CT.

The winner is scheduled to be announced later this season, and the submission that receives the most votes during the voting period will be declared the winner.

The winner will get a chance to travel to Chicago to attend a pregame ceremony to unveil the logo at Wrigley Field this season. The package includes two airplane tickets, lodging, two tickets to the game and a personalized Cubs jersey.
