Cubs sign second-round pick Zastryzny

The Cubs have signed left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny, the team's second-round pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. He was the eighth player Chicago had signed from the Draft, including its second pick from the first 10 rounds.

Zastryzny, out of the University of Missouri, was drafted with the 41st overall pick. The 21-year-old had a 3.38 ERA in 90 2/3 innings this year, throwing three complete games and one shutout during his junior season.

He struck out 82 batters while walking just 24. Zastryzny's 228 career strikeouts at Missouri are tied for eighth in school history.

Zastryzny will reportedly receive a bonus of $1.1 million, which is $261,900 less than the assigned slot value for the 41st selection.

The Cubs officially announced fifth-round pick Trey Masek's signing on Wednesday.

Masek, a right-handed pitcher, wrote of his signing a day earlier on Twitter: "Just signed my contract, officially a member of the Chicago Cubs organization! Couldn't be more blessed!"

Other Cubs Draft picks who have reportedly signed include fourth-round selection Tyler Skulina and ninth-round pick Charcer Burks.

Skulina tied a Kent State record with 11 wins in 2012. He was 6-4 with a 3.36 ERA and 102 strikeouts over 94 innings. According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, Skulina signed for $800,000, which is significantly over slot.

The Cubs have also signed right-hander Zachary Godley (10th round), catcher Cael Brockmeyer (16th round), shortstop Giuseppe Papaccio (18th round), second baseman Zak Blair (20th round), left fielder Kevin Brown (22nd round), left-hander Tyler Ihrig (23rd round) and right-hander Zak Hermans (30th round).
