Cubs reduce spring roster to 37 players


The Chicago Cubs have assigned seven players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 44 to 37 players.

Right-handed pitcher Blake Parker has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. 

Six non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: right-handed pitchers Chang-Yong Lim and Brian Schlitter, left-handed pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, infielders Javier Baez and Chris Valaika and outfielder Casper Wells.

Chicago's spring roster of 37 players consists of 18 pitchers (one non-roster invitee), four catchers (two non-roster invitees), eight infielders (two non-roster invitees) and seven outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
