ST. LOUIS -- The Cubs were awarded a run after a call at home plate was overturned following a replay review.
With one out in the fourth inning against the Cardinals, Emilio Bonifacio tried to score from third on Anthony Rizzo's ground ball to shortstop Jhonny Peralta, who threw home. Home-plate umpire Sean Barber called Bonifacio out at the plate, but Cubs manager Rick Renteria challenged the call.
After a review of one minute and 30 seconds, the call was overturned and Bonifacio was ruled safe, giving Chicago a 9-2 lead over St. Louis. He was able to slide under catcher Yadier Molina's tag.
It was the 17th challenge by the Cubs, and they have now won nine of them.
