Phils win early challenge in finale vs. Cubs

PHILADELPHIA -- With one out in the third, Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg successfully challenged a call at first base in which Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was initially called safe.

With Justin Ruggiano on second after a single and a wild pitch, Rizzo hit a sharp grounder to the right side of the infield. Phillies first baseman John Mayberry Jr. dove to his left and knocked the ball down. His underhanded toss to pitcher A.J. Burnett was ruled late by first-base umpire Gary Cederstrom, but replays showed that the throw beat Rizzo to first and the call was overturned.

On the play, Ruggiano moved to third and scored the Cubs' second run a sharp single to left by Starlin Castro.
