Jose enters his 10th year in the Cubs organization since being signed as a non-drafted free agent in April of 2008 ... added to the 40-man roster November 7, 2016 ... has gone 27-33 with a 4.78 ERA (261 ER/491.2 IP) in 160 minor league games, including 64 starts ... Missed the entire 2015 season with a right elbow injury ... returned in 2016 and posted his best season as a pro, going 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA (15 ER/54.0 IP) in 45 games between Single-A Myrtle Beach, Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa ... Has struck out 425 batters while walking 209 in 491.2 innings of work. © Named a Baseball America Short-Season All-Star in 2011 with Boise ... Began his pro career with the Dominican Summer League Cubs in 2008.

2016

In his first action since the 2014 season, he split time between Single-A Myrtle Beach, Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa ... he went a combined 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA (15 ER/54.0 IP) and 14 saves in 45 relief outings ... Began the season with Single-A Myrtle Beach, going 1-0 with five saves and a 1.65 ERA (3 ER/16.1 IP) in 12 games ... was promoted to Tennessee May 25 where he posted a 2.76 ERA (5 ER/16.1 IP) and four saves in 11 relief outings ...
